Slovenian-Kazakh economic cooperation
Kazakhstan for Slovenia is the most promising and significant economic partner among the countries of Central Asia with 16 million market size and energy potential. At the end of 2019, Kazakhstan took 44th place among Slovenia's foreign trade partners. In recent years, there has been a tendency in increasing trade between the two countries with a predominance of exports in the trade balance, but nevertheless, it remains relatively modest and has great prospects for deepening economic cooperation.
An important role in the development of economic cooperation between the two countries is played by the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation, the last meeting of which was held in June 2018 in Kazakhstan.
The most promising areas of economic cooperation are pharmaceuticals, information and telecommunication technologies, new technologies, modern solutions in the field of energy (energy efficiency), environmental protection, construction and tourism.
In September 2015, the Consulate of the Republic of Slovenia was opened in Almaty, headed by the Honorary Consul, and the Kazakh-Slovenian Business Club also operates.
