Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia Moscow /Education /

The Embassy, in cooperation with the competent institutions, promotes Slovenian education and science in the Russian Federation and provides assistance in establishing contacts between Slovenian and Russian partner institutions.

The main basis for the cooperation in this field is the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Slovenia and the Government of the Russian federation on cooperation in culture, science and education, signed in Moscow on 17 November 1995. In accordance to the agreement, the two countries prepare biennial programmes on cooperation in the above specified areas (Programme on cooperation in culture, science, education and sport in 2016-2018).

The Embassy also takes an active part in cooperation between the European Union and the Russian Federation in the fields of culture and education. In this context, it regularly participates in events organised by EU Member States and the EU Delegation to Russia. More information about these activities can be found on the following links:

Slovenian state scholarships for Russian students

In accordance with the above mentioned Agreement, Slovenia yearly grants a limited number of monthly state scholarships to Russian students. More information is available at the web-site of the Centre of the Republic of Slovenia for Mobility and European Educational (CMEPIUS).

Slovenian language in Russia

The Embassy maintains contacts with three universities in the Russian Federation where Slovenian language is taught, and carries out regular joint projects with them:

The Centre for Slovene as a Second/Foreign Language (Faculty of Arts of the University of Ljubljana), is the Slovenian institution that maintains contact with chairs of the Slovenian language, provides materials and organises events. The Centre extends understanding of the Slovene language, literature and culture on an international scale. It also encourages international research in Slovene language and literature, organises professional and scientific conferences and develops the complete infrastructure for attaining, examining and certifying proficiency in Slovene as a second/foreign language.
